momcafé's Team

Jill Earthy and Hilary Wooller founded momcafé in 2007, after having spent many hours in cafés discussing brilliant ideas on how to bring inspired women together. Some of the ideas brought on rounds of laughter (martinis at midnight group, team building by toy making), others got washed down the drain with the remains of the coffee (not even worth mentioning here), while the momcafé idea seemed to stick around, mostly due to the amount of coffee they were drinking.

They then went looking for a team, and located Sherri, Melissa, and Sarah, three women who enjoy a good laugh and a good latté. Next time you are in a café and hear a gaggle of women laughing, peek to see if it isn’t the momcafé team!

Jill Earthy

Jill's passion is connecting women, something she has done informally for as long as she can remember. While recently on maternity leave with her second daughter, Jill recognized a common theme in many of the conversations she was having with other Moms. Many of these professional women who now have young kids were feeling a lack of adult social interaction.

Jill wanted to find a way to bring these women together in an encouraging environment. A café like setting seemed ideal to stimulate conversation and to encourage new ideas. By creating events that would foster new connections and supportive friendships, she hopes that women will link up to start new businesses, share childcare, enjoy an interesting conversation and so much more. The possibilities are endless.

Jill is an entrepreneur with an MBA and is Executive Director of a successful non-profit organization supporting female entrepreneurs all over British Columbia.

Jill lives in Vancouver with her husband and two young daughters.

Hilary Wooller

Born & educated in the UK, with European and Canadian business experience, Hilary's goal for momcafé is to help young professional women write the next chapter of their lives and careers.

Believing in the importance of 'getting involved', she has volunteered on many community projects, has worked on many political campaigns - civic, provincial and federal - and encourages all women to take an active role in their community.

She lives in Vancouver with her husband Brian, and Reilly, an English springer spaniel.

Hilary & Jill have worked together on many successful projects in the past, including managing one of Vancouver's largest conference management firms and launching a national hospitality staffing company.

Sherri Corrie

Sherri Corrie has been helping Moms build their businesses since 2001, when she started her small business consultancy. She has known Jill and Hilary for almost that long, and has enjoyed many a latté discussing all their great ideas. Since she enjoys being busy doing a wide variety of things, Jill and Hil asked her to join them in this great adventure, over a latté, of course! Sherri has her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Victoria, has lived and worked around the world, and is now residing in North Vancouver with her husband and daughter.

Linda Nasu

After becoming a new mom in the summer of 2007 and leaving her job in marketing, Linda wanted to continue her connection with the career world while raising her daughter. Linda attended a momcafé meeting and was instantly enthusiastic to learn more and be involved with the dynamic group of the momcafé team and members. With strong event coordination, administration & operations, project management and organization skills, Linda can’t wait to meet more people, share and receive ‘tips and tricks’ at informative and fun momcafé events.

Carrie Fanai

Before kids, Carrie traveled extensively and worked as an engineer in both the environmental field and in food processing and R&D. Her entrepreneurial path began in 2004 while still working as a professional. Once she became a mom in 2005 she knew that returning to her full time career as an engineer was not in the “cards.” Being a stay-at-home mom became priority, and so she found a balance between doing kid-stuff and running two businesses. After delivering the first momcafé event in Calgary in 2008, Carrie realized how great the need was for moms to stay connected and has now found her connection with the mom community. Carrie grew up in Burlington, Ontario, and graduated as a Biological Engineer from the University of Guelph. She now lives in Calgary with her husband and two young sons.

Lisa Nevar-Landsmann

Lisa began her journey as a conservation volunteer leader and trainer, for a non-profit environmental organization. After four years of organizing nature and conservation trips, she found herself drawn to the energy of promotional marketing. Six years of selling packaged goods to consumers was not as fulfilling as Lisa had hoped and she and her husband were ready for a family. In 2005, their son was born and Lisa enjoyed more than a year of being a stay at home mom. However, marketing beckoned again and she found herself working for the Canadian Football League. Despite the glitter and excitement of working in the professional sports industry, she was unable to find true balance and happiness in her chosen career. So in 2008, Lisa distilled her skills and experiences down to determine what she finds most satisfying in a job: guiding, teaching and nurturing others to discover their own potential and happiness. Today, Lisa is a Certified Itsy Bitsy Yoga Facilitator, teaching yoga to Babies, Tots and Tykes. She is also a hatha yoga instructor, with a particular interest in teaching yoga for pregnancy. Most recently, Lisa joined the momcafé team, to bring events to Toronto. Living in Oakville, Ontario with her husband Rob and their 4 year old son Ronan, Lisa enjoys her part-time-stay-at-home-mom hours at the park, on a bicycle, watching her son ski, taking family backpacking/canoeing/camping trips for a week at a time, practicing yoga, taking photos of every moment possible and reading. Lisa has found true happiness and balance at this stage of her journey..
